BISP 8171 Program

The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP 8171) is Pakistan’s largest social welfare program aimed at providing financial assistance to the deserving and vulnerable sections of the country. But do you know how the government decides who is eligible for this assistance and who is not? So if you don’t know, let us tell you that the system used for this decision is called “Proxy Means Test” or PMT score.

This score is actually a number that is prepared by keeping in mind the financial status of your family, income, assets, and other details. And it is this score that determines whether you are eligible for financial assistance under the Benazir Kafalat Program or 8171 Ehsaas Program or not. Let us go ahead and tell you in this article what the limits of PMT support set by the year 2025 are.

What is a PMT score?

PMT score is a method used to assess the financial status of households. It is prepared based on data from the National Socioeconomic Registry (NSER), which includes the number of household members, education, income, housing conditions, and other socioeconomic factors.

The purpose of this score is to understand which families are living below the poverty line so that the government can really reach its financial assistance to those who need it most. This is why you are repeatedly instructed to answer the questions asked correctly whenever you go to complete your survey registration process so that your PMT score can be accurately determined.

PMT Score Limit in June 2025

There are certain PMT score limits set under BISP that indicate who is eligible for assistance:

  • 0 to 32: All such individuals are fully eligible and are provided with BISP installments.
  • 33 to 40: This score is considered medium; these individuals may receive assistance in certain circumstances, such as proof of disability, widowhood, or low income.
  • Above 40: Such individuals are generally not considered eligible for BISP financial assistance.

Important Note: Widows, disabled persons, and transgenders are given special concessions. If their score is less than 37, they can still be declared eligible.
